History of the Nipomo Newcomers Club

By 1999 the Five Cities Newcomers Club had grown to about 500 people and they decided they had become too large. A committee recommended that a separate Newcomers Club should be established. Several Five Cities newcomers became part of the start-up Nipomo Newcomers.

Flyers were made up and circulated around Nipomo businesses and Blacklake. These flyers invited people interested in joining Nipomo Newcomers to attend a membership coffee meeting.

The first membership-coffee meeting in September 1999 was held in the Blacklake clubhouse and over 100 people came and signed up to join Nipomo Newcomers. That number grew to 200 members just one year later.

The club has grown from the original 6 social clubs to 20+ organized groups. Members have also enjoyed whale watching, tours of Vandenburg, wine tasting, luncheons, TGIF gatherings and much more.

Nipomo Newcomers & Social Club has offered members many new experiences and acquaintances, and some very good friends.
